The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, has criticized US President Donald Trump’s efforts to bring peace to Ukraine. Trump met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska last week and convened a summit at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, Kallas claims that these diplomatic attempts have actually provided a major propaganda victory for Putin, allowing him to claim that his invasion of Ukraine is legitimate. The EU chief warns that Trump’s approach may be walking into Russia’s “trap.”
