The European Commission has imposed a total fine of €329 million on delivery group Delivery Hero and its subsidiary Glovo for participating in an anti-competitive cartel. The fine is related to the sharing of sensitive information between the two companies from 2018, allowing them to gain an unfair advantage over competitors in the food delivery sector. This information was collected through a ‘WhatsApp-style’ agreement, where Delivery Hero acquired a minority stake in its Spanish rival and began gathering data on nearly all aspects of its business. The Commission’s move aims to promote fair competition in the fast-growing food delivery market.
