EU Warns Putin’s Demands Are ‘Trap’

EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas has warned that Russia’s demands for Ukraine to surrender territory in exchange for peace are “a trap” meant to lure the West into a false sense of security. Russian President Vladimir Putin is demanding that Ukraine cede the Donbas region and renounce its ambitions to join NATO, the EU’s top diplomat said.

Kallas stated that handing over land to Russia would only reward the country responsible for the ongoing bloodshed. She argued that Putin has not made any concessions and is instead using the war as an opportunity to expand his territory.

The EU chief expressed skepticism about President Trump’s efforts to broker a peace deal with Putin, suggesting that it was more of a propaganda stunt for the Kremlin. Kallas also pointed out that Putin had failed to keep previous promises and that his intentions are far from peaceful.

As tensions escalate, Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky has defended the country’s stance, insisting that giving up key territory would be catastrophic. He argues that the Donbas region serves as a crucial defensive line, and surrendering it would put Ukraine at risk of further Russian aggression.
