The euro has risen to around $1.04 after three consecutive sessions of losses, driven by renewed diplomatic efforts for peace in Ukraine. A tense meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last week highlighted the need for international cooperation.
However, a more positive reception was received from European leaders, who have agreed to craft a peace proposal to be presented to the US. This surge of momentum has boosted the euro. Investors are now watching closely this week’s European Central Bank policy meeting, where a 25 bps rate cut is expected, following similar reductions in January 2025.
