Las Vegas will host the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) from this summer, attracting thousands of gamers from around the world. The convention center is expected to be filled with fans cheering on top players in games like Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken 8. Over 9,000 players signed up for this year’s three-day tournament, with total attendance projected to exceed 20,000.
EVO General Manager Richard Thiher attributes the event’s continued popularity to Las Vegas’ amenities. “The food options, hotels, and even the gambling” make it an attractive destination for gamers. Thiher also notes that planning a large-scale event like EVO is a year-round process but plans no departure from Las Vegas.
EVO has expanded globally in recent years, hosting events in Japan and France this summer, with Singapore set to join the lineup in 2026. For top players like Justin Wong, being crowned EVO champion is a prestigious title rivaling that of a World Champion.
