Rockstar Games is not concerned about releasing its next big game, Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), amidst a crowded gaming schedule. In response to fans speculating about the game’s release window, Mike Ybarra, former Blizzard president and current freelance writer, weighed in with his opinion.
Ybarra stated that “Borderlands 4 doesn’t matter” when it comes to GTA 6’s launch date. He believes Rockstar Games is controlled by no one, including its publisher, Take-Two Interactive, which also publishes Borderlands. This means that the company can release GTA 6 whenever it wants without worrying about conflicting with other games.
Ybarra’s comments suggest that publishers are waiting for Rockstar to announce its launch date before committing to their own game releases. However, he believes this will not be a problem for Rockstar, given the success of its previous titles, such as Red Dead Redemption and GTA Online.
While some fans may see Borderlands 4’s release in September as a possible indicator that GTA 6’s window has been narrowed down, Ybarra is unconcerned. He believes that Rockstar Games will simply move all other releases out of the way when it announces its launch date for GTA 6.
