Ex-Def Contractor Sold Eight Zero-Day Exploits to Russia, DoJ Says

A former executive at defense contractor L3Harris’s cyber subsidiary Trenchant sold eight zero-day exploit kits to Russia, according to a US Department of Justice filing.

The former GM, Peter Williams, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft of trade secrets in October 2025. However, the court records didn’t reveal what he stole until recently. The DoJ claims that Williams’ actions caused significant harm to US national security and led to the loss of over $35 million for L3Harris.

Williams could face up to 9 years in prison and must pay restitution of $35 million. He has agreed to be deported to Australia after serving his term.
