A search for missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has entered its ninth day. Authorities initially thought she was kidnapped, but an ex-FBI special agent now questions this assumption. According to James Gagliano, the case is unusual because of Nancy’s age and health conditions.
Gagliano notes that kidnappings of people over 80 are extremely rare, making up less than 1/2 of 1% of cases. He believes Nancy’s disappearance may not be a standard kidnapping scenario, citing the family’s previous claims that she needs medications and may have gone without them for an extended period.
Gagliano suggests that virtual kidnappings or similar tactics might be at play, where the kidnappers use AI to create confusion and panic among families. However, he questions why there hasn’t been more immediate action from the alleged “kidnappers” after a 14-hour head start.
To solve the case, Gagliano emphasizes the importance of physical investigation, including knocking on doors and interviewing people, as well as analyzing digital evidence, such as forensic data from doorbell cameras.
