Ryan Salame and Caroline Ellison, two former executives of the now-bankrupt cryptocurrency trading platform FTX, have both shaved time off their prison sentences. Salame, who was sentenced to 7.5 years in federal prison, is now expected to be released on March 1, 2031, a full year before his initial release date.
Ellison, the former CEO of FTX’s hedge fund arm Alameda Research, was sentenced to 2 years in prison and will be released on July 20, 2026. Her early release is attributed to good conduct time, which is calculated into her projected release date. The Federal Bureau of Prisons lists inmates who have earned this time.
FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried was also convicted of fraud and sentenced to 25 years in prison. However, his release date is not listed on the prisons website.
Inmates can earn good conduct time by participating in prison programs or demonstrating good behavior. The Bureau of Prisons does not comment on individual inmate conditions but notes that inmates can earn up to 54 days of good conduct time for each year of their sentence.
