Former Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott has signed a new contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, joining forces with his former teammate Joey Bosa and fellow Buckeye J.K. Dobbins. The move comes as Elliott seeks to revive his NFL career with a playoff contender after being released by the Dallas Cowboys last week.
Elliott’s veteran leadership, short-yardage prowess, and excellent pass-blocking ability make him a valuable asset for the Chargers. Despite potentially being past his prime as a productive runner, he is expected to contribute in key situations, including third-down conversions and goal-line stands.
The Chargers face off against the Houston Texans on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET in their Wild Card game. Elliott’s addition may give him an opportunity to make an impact in short notice, given his willingness to do “dirty work” and contribute on the field.
