F1 Canadian GP: George Russell Claims Stunning Pole Position

George Russell secured a thrilling pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix, defeating Max Verstappen to claim top spot on the grid. The McLaren driver edged out his rival by 0.160 seconds in a heart-stopping final lap of qualifying.

Championship leader Oscar Piastri settled for third place, while Lando Norris struggled with a disappointing one-lap showing that left him seventh on the grid. Kimi Antonelli finished fourth, ahead of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton.

Russell’s pole position is his second consecutive victory in Canada, following up on his impressive start last year. Verstappen will join him on the front row after crashing into Russell at the previous round in Spain.

The Canadian Grand Prix starts tomorrow at 7pm BST. Russell expressed excitement about securing pole, stating that the final lap was one of the most exhilarating laps of his life.
