F1 Driver Ollie Bearman Slapped with 10-Place Grid Penalty at Monaco Grand Prix

Formula One driver Ollie Bearman has been hit with a significant grid penalty ahead of this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, following an incident during practice that saw him breach rules.

Bearman, driving for Haas, was given a 10-place grid penalty by the stewards after it was discovered he overtook Carlos Sainz during a red flag period in Friday’s second session. The decision was made despite Bearman claiming he had seen the red flags and decided to slow down at his own pace.

The stewards ruled that Bearman failed to follow safety regulations, which require drivers to immediately reduce speed and proceed slowly back to their pits when a red flag is displayed. They stated that the driver’s actions were not in line with these rules and imposed the penalty of 10-grid place drop for the race and two penalty points.

The incident comes ahead of Sunday’s main event in Monaco, where overtaking is notoriously difficult due to the challenging track layout. However, the organizers have addressed this by introducing a mandatory two-stop policy for the race this year.
