Giorgetto Giugiaro’s 1971 Maserati Boomerang is one of the most iconic concept cars in automotive history. Now, his son Fabrizio has taken inspiration from this design to create a new car called the Peralta S. Commissioned by a private collector and based on the Maserati MC20 supercar, the Peralta S is a unique and faithful interpretation of its predecessor.
Unlike his father’s original, which had a blank slate to start with, Fabrizio faced a more challenging task due to the integrated design of the MC20. He replaced the two gullwing doors with a single massive rooftop door that still allows for a touch of drama when opened. The car’s body is handcrafted aluminum and features a polished mirror finish.
Inside, not much has changed from the MC20, but Fabrizio added new air vents on the dashboard and extra buttons on the steering wheel. The Peralta S retains its mechanicals, featuring the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 621 horsepower. This car is unlikely to see public roads, as it’s been commissioned for a private collection.
The Peralta S is an exciting creation that honors Fabrizio’s father’s legacy while introducing new elements. The Giugiaro name remains in good hands with this unique take on the iconic Boomerang design.
