Falcons’ Final Preseason Game Brings Roster Updates

The Atlanta Falcons entered their final preseason game with a singular focus on players fighting for roster spots, and this mission was accomplished by several position groups. Raheem Morris emphasized the importance of making final roster decisions before the weekend’s deadline.

Nick Nash, a receiver in the 2025 UDFA class, showed flashes of brilliance during Friday’s game, but faces stiff competition from an already deep receiver room. Despite this, his performance has convinced him to be valuable for the practice squad. Other reserves like Chris Blair and Dylan Drummond have also done well, potentially securing spots on the practice squad.

Dee Alford took outside reps in the slot for the first time during the preseason, adding depth to the secondary. Morris confirmed that Alford is being given live reps to cross-train in case depth dwindles.

Elijah Dotson had a notable performance, racking up 12 carries for 74 yards and helping the Falcons achieve 147 rushing yards as a team. His chances of securing the last available running back spot are uncertain, but his efforts have pleased Morris.

Younghoe Koo struggled with his kicking game, missing a 51-yard field goal in the first half. While this doesn’t guarantee he won’t make the roster, it raises concerns about the Falcons’ kicking game.

Jamal Agnew has been plagued by an oblique injury and hasn’t seen significant playing time. The Falcons have options for return specialist duties, making his potential roster spot uncertain.

The tackle situation remains a concern, with McGary facing significant time on IR and Norton expected to miss six-to-eight weeks. Morris is open to both holding onto Elijah Wilkinson or making a move to acquire a backup tackle.
