The Atlanta Falcons snapped their four-game losing streak with a 15-9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on Monday night, but quarterback Kirk Cousins still has to address his inconsistent play. Cousins was 11-of-17 for 112 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the game.
Cousins’ performance is causing concern as he has nine interceptions in his past five games, despite a single touchdown pass during that span. Coach Raheem Morris stated that Cousins needs to improve and find a way to get him to play better. The Falcons drafted quarterback Michael Penix Jr., but Morris did not rule out keeping Cousins as the starter.
Morris praised Cousins’ improvement against the Minnesota Vikings last week, with 344 yards through the air, but criticized his decision-making in Monday’s game. Cousins acknowledged that he needs to protect the football and avoid being too aggressive, saying it’s the key to playing well. Despite this, Morris thinks Cousins’ statement is “stating the obvious,” and Cousins plans to continue working on his game.
