A new mod, Fallout: Bakersfield, is reimagining the original Fallout as an FPS game using the GZDoom Engine. The project was first teased in September 2022 and has been gaining attention for its ambitious approach to a classic game. In its latest update, a four-minute trailer reveals more of the Necropolis, the game’s fast-paced enemies, and new weapons.
Fans have reacted positively to the gameplay and trailer, calling it “sick” and “proper Fallout.” However, the project is only 60% complete and requires further work before its release. A potential release date was briefly displayed in the trailer but remains uncertain.
Fallout: Bakersfield comes from a team led by Alexander ‘Red888Guns’ Berezin, who has also worked on an upcoming isometric CRPG inspired by classic Fallout games.
