Fans of the video game adaptation of The Last of Us have expressed disappointment after a key scene was omitted from the latest episode of season two. The scene, which features Ellie and Dina discovering an old cannabis farm and having sex for the first time on an old sofa, did not occur as planned in the TV series.
The decision to leave out the scene has sparked heated reactions among fans, with some taking to social media to voice their discontent. “Never forget what they took from us,” wrote one fan, alongside a screenshot of the scene in the game.
In an interview, showrunner Craig Mazin explained that the location where the scene was meant to take place was scrapped, but the idea remained intact. He stated that while the experience is different between the game and TV series, everything necessary for the story will be covered throughout the season.
Creator Neil Druckmann added that the team built Jesse’s character more extensively than in the game, allowing for a deeper dynamic with Ellie. The relationship between Ellie and Dina also takes unexpected turns, making up for what was left out of the original scene.
The Last of Us is available to stream on Sky and NOW in the UK.
