A customer who was upset with his food at a Checkers restaurant in Florida shot and killed the worker, authorities said. Elijah Travis Mackey, 23, was arrested after hiding under a stairwell of a nearby motel and later charged with murder. The May 21 shooting occurred when a man complained about his order to a female employee and asked to speak to a manager several times. Witnesses reported that Mackey argued with the customer before pulling out a gun and shooting him in the chest. Mackey fled, but returned to get his backpack before being taken into custody again, where he reportedly expressed concern for the victim’s well-being.
