Faster Wireless Charging Standard Takes Shape

The latest wireless charging standard, Qi2.2, has been certified by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), marking a significant improvement over its predecessor, Qi2. The new standard offers faster 25W charging speeds, making it more convenient for users.

Several manufacturers, including Belkin, Anker, and Ugreen, have products certified under the new standard. These companies offer a range of devices, from power banks to car mounts, that can take advantage of Qi2.2’s increased speed. Some of these devices have been officially announced, while others are still in development.

One notable device is the Ugreen 10,000mAh MagFlow power bank, which has received certification for Qi2.2. Other companies, such as Baseus and Belkin, also have products certified for the new standard.

The WPC lists Qi2.2 as being introduced in April 2025, but no products using the standard are currently available for sale. However, eight products have been certified and are expected to hit the market soon.

Some manufacturers have announced plans to expand their product lines with Qi2.2 devices, including Anker’s Prime series and Scosche’s MagicMount Pro car mount. Others, like Aukey and CVSMicro, have confirmed development of Qi2.2 charging components for use in other products.

The arrival of Qi2.2 is expected to encourage more manufacturers to adopt the standard, which could lead to faster adoption among phone manufacturers. Currently, only a few devices support Qi2, but with the new standard, users can expect to see more devices that can take advantage of its benefits.
