Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles and NFL star Tyreek Hill are set to officially race each other this spring or summer, sparking a long-standing rivalry between the two speedsters.
The trash talk has been going back and forth for months, with both athletes exchanging jabs on social media. Hill, 30, claims he can beat Lyles in a race, saying he wants to show people what real speed looks like. Lyles, 27, responds by saying that when it comes down to it, you gotta be the winner every time, and he always wins.
Hill feels compelled to participate in the race to prove NFL athletes can take over track sports, while Lyles believes track athletes should be more willing to engage in competition. The two have exchanged playful jabs about their speed, with Hill joking that Lyles was “scared” of competing against him in a 40-meter race.
The location and date of the race are yet to be determined, but it’s expected to happen before Lyles competes in the U.S. Championships this July.
