Fatal Crash in Charlotte Leaves Young Man Dead

A fatal car crash occurred on Wednesday in east Charlotte’s Hickory Grove Division, claiming the life of a 26-year-old man. The incident happened at around 5:23 a.m. at the 5100 block of Hickory Valley Court, where first responders found Daniel Rashawn Rogers unresponsive near a Toyota Sequoia with extensive injuries.

Rogers was later identified as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. Two female passengers, ages 22 and 31, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

According to preliminary investigation findings, Rogers was speeding through the parking lot when he lost control, striking a wooden fence and metal garbage dumpster before being ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The police report suggests that speed and impairment may have contributed to the fatal accident.
