The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has seized the popular Nintendo Switch game piracy site, Nsw2u, as part of an ongoing investigation into piracy and copyright infringement. The site allowed users to download ROMs of Switch games for free, which could be played on hacked consoles or PC emulators.
This move follows several high-profile anti-piracy actions by Nintendo in recent years. In 2019, the company sued RomUniverse, a ROM-sharing site that offered unlimited downloads of new and old Nintendo games. Last year, it filed a lawsuit against streamer EveryGameGuru for broadcasting footage of pirated games.
Nintendo has also taken steps to deter piracy through its Switch User Agreement. The company recently updated the agreement to include a clause that allows it to brick your console if you run unauthorized emulators or play pirated games. This change came into effect just ahead of the Switch 2 launch on June 5.
