FBI Employees Ordered To Reveal Jan. 6 Role By Monday

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has ordered its staff to answer questions about their involvement in investigations related to the January 6, 2021, storming of the US Capitol by President Donald Trump’s supporters.

The order comes amid a fresh wave of firings at the agency, with eight top FBI officials let go on Friday. Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove has demanded that all employees who worked on cases related to the Jan. 6 riot and another ongoing case against Hamas leaders turn in their information by Tuesday.

Critics claim that President Trump’s team is carrying out a purge of FBI and Justice Department officials who played roles in cases against Trump and his supporters. The situation has raised concerns about due process and employee safety, with lawyers warning that public exposure of terminated employees’ identities could threaten their lives.

FBI Director Brian Driscoll said the request encompasses thousands of employees across the country, but it is unclear how many will be affected. Despite reports of other firings, some employees have started clearing out their desks amid concerns they might be next.
