FBI investigates Tesla vandalism and swatting incidents

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating attacks on Tesla vehicles and dealerships, as well as related swatting incidents, according to Deputy Director Dan Bongino. The agency has confirmed at least three cases of vandalism targeting Tesla properties in the US.

President Trump’s Attorney General Pam Bondi has threatened “severe consequences” for anyone involved in vandalizing Tesla vehicles, while Musk himself has expressed shock over the attacks. A string of incidents across the US have resulted in multiple Tesla vehicles being burned or dealerships being vandalized, with some owners even posting bumper stickers to distance themselves from the billionaire.

The FBI is working closely with other agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, to investigate these incidents as potential acts of terrorism. The agency has also been involved in a global response, with vandalism targeting Tesla dealerships reported in Canada and the US.

Three people have already been charged on suspicion of violently destroying Tesla properties. A letter from Republican lawmakers is calling for an investigation into the attacks against Tesla, but it remains to be seen if this will lead to any concrete action.
