FDA Commissioner Reinstates Dr. Vinay Prasad After White House Pressure

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reinstated Dr. Vinay Prasad, less than two weeks after he was removed from his leadership roles by the White House. According to a spokesperson, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., along with FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, requested Prasad’s return due to concerns over past comments made by right-wing provocateur Laura Loomer. Prasad will resume leading the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. The move marks a personnel victory for Kennedy Jr. and Makary, who opposed Prasad’s dismissal. However, FDA workers expressed incredulence and concern about the decision, which follows a quarter of agency employees being reinstated this year despite low staff morale.
