The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has upgraded its recall warning for Cal Yee Farms’ chocolate products due to concerns over undeclared milk. The agency has elevated the recall of a few specific products, including dark chocolate almonds, apricots, and walnuts, from the initial “reactive level” to the most serious level, Class 1.
The FDA’s updated warning advises individuals with a milk allergy to exercise caution. A Class 1 recall indicates that there is a “reasonable probability that use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”
Affected products were initially recalled in December 2024 and included those sold in nine states, but the FDA warns shoppers to check their pantries, as these products may have been purchased online. The agency provides a full list of recalled items on its website.
The recalled products can be identified by their bright yellow label with a UPC code on the back. Consumers are advised to inspect their storage and discard any affected products immediately if they contain undeclared milk.
