FDA Upgrades Chocolate Recall to Highest Risk Level

A chocolate recall by Cal Yee Farm has been upgraded to the highest risk level by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The agency warns that consuming the product could cause “serious adverse health consequences or death.” The recalled products, which include Dark Chocolate Almonds, Apricots, and Walnuts, contain common allergens such as milk, soy, wheat, sesame, and almonds.

The FDA has assigned a Class I threat level to the recall due to these allergens. People with allergies or sensitivity to these ingredients are at risk of severe reactions if they consume the products. The affected products were primarily distributed in several states, including California, Arizona, Virginia, and New Mexico, as well as through online fruit baskets.

The recall was initiated by the manufacturer after an FDA inspection of their manufacturing facility. Consumers with milk, soy, wheat, sesame, almond, or FD&C #6 allergies are advised not to consume the products and to dispose of them or return them for a full refund. Those with questions can contact the manufacturer at (707) 425-5327 or [email protected] from Monday to Friday, 11am-7:30pm.
