A viral outbreak has affected several cats in the area, including Sekhmet, a little cat named after the ancient Egyptian goddess of war and healing. Her owner, Kiki Knopp, lost two other kitties due to the avian flu but is grateful that Sekhmet recovered.
Knopp’s seven cats were exposed to contaminated food from Wild Coast pet foods, which has led to the outbreak. The company has issued a warning, asking cat owners to be cautious when feeding their pets.
