Fever Fall Short in Physical WNBA Match Against Atlanta Dream

Former Connecticut Sun coach Stephanie White, now at the helm of the Indiana Fever, conceded that her team struggled with physicality against the Atlanta Dream. The Dream’s 91-90 victory was fueled by Brittney Griner’s 21 points and Brionna Jones’ 19 points, helping to bounce back from an opening loss.

The Fever, led by star Caitlin Clark (27 points, 11 assists), trailed most of the game before mounting a comeback in the fourth quarter. Despite this resurgence, Indiana fell short due to poor free-throw shooting, making only 16 of 26 attempts compared to Atlanta’s 25 of 32.

Coach White emphasized that her team needs to adapt to physical opponents by embracing their aggressive tactics. “Teams are going to be physical,” she said. “We have to figure out how to use that physicality against them.” Clark echoed this sentiment, praising her teammates’ resilience and ability to respond to adversity. The Fever will look to bounce back in their next matchup with the Dream on Thursday at State Farm Arena.
