Fever Roster Shifts Due to Injuries, Not Clark Return

The Indiana Fever have made roster changes due to mounting injuries, not because of a potential return by star point guard Caitlin Clark. The team signed experienced guard Shey Peddy to a hardship contract after releasing Kyra Lambert five days into her seven-day stint.

Fever guard Sophie Cunningham suffered a season-ending knee injury in Sunday’s game against the Sun, joining Sydney Colson (left ACL) and Aari McDonald (right foot), who were ruled out for the season. Coach Stephanie White said the team now must adjust their strategy to play without Cunningham, who can still contribute in certain roles.

“We have to figure out how we’re going to play without Sophie,” White said. “The timing is never ideal, but her long-term health and wellness is the most important thing.”

Peddy, a 36-year-old veteran with six years of experience, was acquired to fill the void left by Cunningham’s injury. The Fever plan to sign a third player to a hardship contract after Friday’s game against Minnesota, which will become eligible for another hardship spot once Cunningham misses a game.

The roster changes come as Clark has been out since July 15 with a groin injury and has not yet returned to team practice. White hopes Clark will return before the end of the regular season, but emphasized that her health and wellness are the top priority.
