The first edition of the redesigned FIFA Club World Cup has been drawn, featuring 32 teams from around the world. Despite being seeded in Pot 2, Chelsea’s participation makes this tournament more intriguing due to the absence of other European teams.
Three new teams join the competition: Flamengo, Club León, and Espérance de Tunis. The latter is the only team without a continental title win to its name. David Luiz, a key player for Flamengo, remains hopeful to participate.
The tournament will take place from mid-June to July 13, with the United States hosting most games on the east coast, except for Seattle and Los Angeles, which will host west-coast matches. Chelsea’s group stage schedule is yet to be confirmed.
Here are the eight groups:
GROUP A: Palmeiras, FC Porto, Al-Ahly, Inter Miami
GROUP B: PSG, Atlético Madrid, Botafogo, Seattle Sounders
GROUP C: Bayern Munich, Auckland City, Boca Juniors, Benfica
GROUP D: Flamengo, Tunis, Chelsea, León
GROUP E: River Plate, Urawa Red Diamonds, CF Monterrey, Inter Milan
GROUP F: Fluminense, Borussia Dortmund, Ulsan HD, Mamelodi Sundowns
GROUP G: Manchester City, Wydad AC, Al-Ain, Juventus
GROUP H: Real Madrid, Al-Hilal, CF Pachuca, FC Salzburg
