Figure Skating Tribute Show Honors Plane Crash Victims

A tribute show for the victims of a plane crash near Reagan Washington National Airport will be held by U.S. Figure Skating, featuring dozens of well-known faces in American figure skating. The two-hour exhibition, titled “Legacy on Ice,” will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET on Sunday at Capital One Arena.

The purpose behind the tribute show is to pay respects to those who died in the Jan. 29 mid-air collision and support their families through ticket sales and donations. The incident resulted in the deaths of 67 people, including 28 members of the figure skating community.

The victims include skaters and coaches from various clubs along the East Coast, with many representing the Washington area, Boston, and Delaware. Notable Olympic champions and stars will perform at the event, including Peggy Fleming, Nathan Chen, Brian Boitano, and Kristi Yamaguchi.

The exhibition will also be broadcast live on NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, and an encore showing will air on NBC at 1 p.m. ET on March 30.
