Fire Sparks Behind Disney’s EPCOT Theme Park

A fire broke out backstage at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT theme park on Saturday evening, sending a dark plume of smoke above the France Pavilion and prompting evacuations.

The fire started around 7 p.m., according to officials with Walt Disney World. It was confirmed that a walk-in cooler caught fire behind the scenes of the France Pavilion within the park’s World Showcase.

Despite efforts to contain it, no one was injured in the blaze. However, some guests were evacuated from “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” due to smoke and ash.

Eyewitnesses shared videos and photos on social media, capturing the fire and its aftermath. The evacuation was likely caused by smoke entering the ride, prompting Disney officials to clear the area.

The International Flower & Garden Festival, a major event at EPCOT, was running during the incident. It will run through June 2.
