Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost lunar lander has captured breathtaking views on its 45-day journey to the Moon, including a stunning Earth eclipse. The lander, which launched on January 15, has traveled over 715,000 miles in space and sent back more than 7 GB of data to Earth.
The Blue Ghost is carrying 10 NASA payloads to the Moon and has several investigations already underway during its spaceflight. Firefly hopes to capture images from the lunar surface, including a total eclipse of the Sun, as well as a lunar sunset that recreates what Apollo 17 astronaut Eugene Cernan described.
The lander will make a soft landing on the near side of the Moon in early March and is expected to spend about 16 days orbiting the Moon before descending. If successful, Firefly plans to share more breathtaking views with the world.
