First Look at Nintendo Switch 2 with Magnetic Joy-Con

Nintendo has seemingly revealed its next-generation handheld console, the Switch 2, in a hands-on demonstration by YouTuber NerdNest. The design appears to align with recent leaks and shows significant upgrades over the original Switch.

The Switch 2 is reportedly bigger than the original device, featuring a glass screen similar to the Switch OLED, and new magnetic Joy-Con that attach to the side of the screen. Each Joy-Con will have a button on the back to lock them in place, unlike the original switch’s slide and snap input system.

Measuring the model revealed a diagonal screen size of around 7.9-8 inches. However, both consoles appear to have the same thickness, which may pose issues with overheating.

Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with the original Switch. The company has also announced that the new console will release before the end of 2024, although no official release date has been provided yet.

While Nintendo has not officially revealed the Switch 2, this hands-on demonstration provides a first look at the upcoming console’s design and features.
