The Last of Us interactive exhibit at CES 2025 was an immersive experience that transported me to the game’s world. I entered with three other players, each armed with a unique tool – a virtual shotgun and flashlight prototype. Our goal was to navigate former subway tunnels in Seattle while avoiding infected.
As we ventured deeper, an actor briefed us on our mission and warned of potential dangers. The space featured real prop barricades, wall displays, and a 270-degree panorama. We encountered virtual Clickers and a massive disturbance caused by Ellie and Dina, which led to an endless army of infected rushing towards us.
Despite its short duration and some bugs, the experience was awe-inspiring. I particularly enjoyed the in-floor haptics that added to the immersion. The Sony team is clearly committed to creating a more fully realized interactive exhibit in the future.
While it’s not available for everyone, attendees at CES 2025 may be able to demo the experience. If you miss this opportunity, keep an eye out for its potential launch as a widely available interactive exhibit.
