Five Ejected from Basketball Game Amid Scuffle

A scuffle broke out between players and coaches of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons in Sunday’s game at the Target Center, leading to five ejections and one assistant coach being sent home. The altercation started when Ron Holland II fouled Naz Reid, who pointed a finger at him, sparking DiVincenzo to intervene.

The situation escalated into a brawl involving players from both teams, with some players and coaches getting ejected for their roles. Minnesota head coach Chris Finch described the incident as “dangerous” but shifted the blame onto the physicality of the game, stating that Pistons’ starting lineup was overly aggressive.

Minnesota’s coach JB Bickerstaff commended his team for standing up for each other and defended them after the loss. He stated that protecting teammates is a priority in their locker room. The Timberwolves went on to win 123-104 despite the incident, improving their record to 43-32 and moving into 7th place in the Western Conference.

Both teams have upcoming games, with Minnesota facing Denver on Tuesday and Detroit heading to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder on Wednesday.
