Fix Your Laundry Routine with These 3 Simple Tips

Doing laundry is a necessary task that many of us do on a regular basis. However, it seems that most of us are doing it incorrectly. We recently spoke with Patric Richardson, aka The Laundry Evangelist, who shared three surprising tips to help you get your clothes cleaner and more energy-efficient.

Firstly, Richardson revealed that the only washing machine cycle we ever need is the “express” cycle. He also warned against using dryer sheets, which can actually reduce the effectiveness of your laundry detergent.

But what about using too much laundry detergent? Richardson says that most people are using way too much – up to two tablespoons per load is sufficient. Using more detergent can lead to dirty clothes and even clog your washing machine.

There’s a scientific explanation for this: when you use too much detergent, the surfactant compounds in it don’t rinse out properly, leaving dirt and germs trapped in your clothes. This means that using detergent pods, which often contain an excessive amount of detergent, can actually make your clothes dirty.

Richardson also shared tips on how to zap static electricity with aluminum foil and avoid pit stains with vinegar. These simple hacks can help you get the most out of your laundry routine.

By following these three tips, you can improve your laundry efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and even save money. So, next time you do your laundry, remember: a little bit is better than a lot!
