FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has vowed that his team is ready for a “tough” journey through the Champions League knockout phase, despite avoiding a showdown with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Flick, speaking at a press conference ahead of Saturday’s La Liga match against Las Palmas, acknowledged that Barcelona will face stiff competition in the quarterfinals, first up against Benfica. The German coach expressed his confidence in Barcelona’s abilities, saying “there is no easy opponent” in this round.
In a potential semifinal, Barcelona could face either Bayern Munich or Bayer Leverkusen if they progress. Flick downplayed talk of a possible Clasico decider at the Allianz Arena, instead focusing on securing a spot in the final.
The coach also touched on the controversy surrounding referees, stating “we can’t play without them” and that mistakes will happen. He urged Barcelona to focus on improving their gameplay to secure victories.
With a win over Las Palmas on Saturday, Barcelona could move three points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
