Reality TV star and Floribama Shore alum Kirk Medas has passed away at the age of 33, according to MTV. He was hospitalized with a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis last month and died due to liver failure.
Medas’ health battle was shared with fans on social media by his co-stars, including Hallie Thompson, who revealed that he had been sedated and placed on a ventilator for two weeks. Nilsa Prowant also paid tribute to Medas, describing him as “the glue that held us all close” and sharing memories of their time together.
The cause of Medas’ death is necrotizing pancreatitis, a condition in which severe inflammation causes tissue death. This can lead to both short-term and long-term complications. A GoFundMe campaign established by Medas’ family has raised over $27,000 for medical bills and rehab, with donations needed due to lack of insurance.
Medas was a main cast member on Floribama Shore from 2017 until 2020 and shared his love of dolphins and the ocean with fans. His friends and family remember him as having “the kindest soul” and being able to bring people together with his infectious laughter and smile.
