A powerful cold front will bring severe weather to Florida on Sunday morning, according to forecasters.
The strong cold front, currently moving from west to east, threatens destruction across Louisiana, the Tennessee Valley, Mississippi, and Alabama. Florida’s panhandle can expect gusty winds of up to 40 mph ahead of a squall line.
Rain is expected to reach Southeast Georgia by sunrise, with the storm moving quickly through Northeast Florida around noon. Although flooding will be minimal, heavy downpours, hail, and gusty winds of over 50 mph are major concerns. A low chance of an isolated tornado threat also remains.
The system will move offshore by sunset, leaving behind cooler air that will dominate St. Patrick’s Day with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. Stay up-to-date on the latest weather developments with the Weather Authority App.
