The Influenza A virus has been rapidly spreading through the Philadelphia region, with the entire city coming together to celebrate despite the flu season’s impact. According to Dr. David Manoff, chief of pulmonary and critical care at Temple Jeanes Campus, the spread is rapid, especially in crowded spaces.
“We’re seeing a spike in cases,” said Manoff. “When you’re in a big crowd, it’s better to be outside rather than in close space.”
The CDC has reported the highest rate of flu ever recorded since 1997-1998. The region has seen an increase in hospital admissions due to the flu.
However, there is treatment available with Tamiflu and vaccination can aid in reducing symptoms if you become sick.
