Folding Phone Endurance Put to the Test in Record-Breaking 200,000 Folds

A Korean YouTube channel’s host has been subjecting the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 to an extreme test: folding and unfolding it over 200,000 times. The goal is to examine the phone’s redesigned hinge and flexible display’s durability. After 150,000 folds, the device remains functional. The final 50,000 folds will be live-streamed later this week. Similar simulated tests are conducted by major manufacturers like Samsung, Apple, Motorola, and Google to assess their phones’ real-world performance. However, foldable phones’ complex designs make them more prone to damage or failure compared to traditional slab-style phones, a concern for consumers hesitant to join the folding phone market.
