Football Manager 25 has been cancelled by Sega and Sports Interactive due to repeated delays. The team will now focus on preparing for the next release, FM26. In a statement, Sports Interactive apologized for disappointing fans who had pre-ordered the game twice, offering automatic refunds to those affected.
The cancellation follows two major delays for FM25, which was touted as a significant leap forward for the series. However, the company cited challenges in achieving the required standards, particularly with regards to the player experience and interface.
Sports Interactive will not update FM24 with fresh player data, instead choosing to focus on delivering a high-quality FM26. The team acknowledged that releasing FM25 in its current state would have been premature and might have affected sales of FM26 later in the year.
Sega’s financial results announcement revealed the cancellation, with Sports Interactive blaming “a variety of challenges” and “unforeseen circumstances.” The company expressed its commitment to delivering a new era for Football Manager and will update fans on its progress.
