Sega’s quarterly earnings have revealed a major setback for fans of Football Manager. The highly anticipated Football Manager 2026 has been delayed indefinitely, following two previous delays. According to the report, while some areas of the game have met their targets, Sega and developer Sports Interactive acknowledge that the player experience and interface are still not where they need to be.
This news echoes a similar situation in the past, when EA missed several releases for NBA Live in the 2010s. The lack of an update to last year’s Football Manager, which is now being shifted focus towards FM26, will likely disappoint fans who were expecting new content. However, Sega and Sports Interactive are prioritizing the development of FM26, leaving the future of previous titles uncertain.
