Footballer Thomas Partey Charged with Rape Over Three Women

Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by the Metropolitan Police. The charges relate to alleged incidents between 2021-2022 involving three women. Partey, 32, denies all the allegations and is cooperating with the investigation.

The investigation started in February 2022 after a report of rape was received. The Ghanaian international has been playing for Arsenal since 2020 and his contract ended on Monday due to the ongoing legal proceedings.

Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, stated that he welcomes the opportunity to clear his name. The player is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.

The Metropolitan Police are asking anyone who has been impacted by this case or has information to contact their team via email [email protected]. Partey has made over 50 appearances for Ghana’s national team and played for Arsenal, scoring nine goals in the Premier League.
