The Ford Motor Company has launched a massive recall affecting over 850,000 vehicles across its Ford and Lincoln brands. The affected models include Ford Broncos, Explorers, F-150s, F-250 SDs, F-350 SDs, F-450 SDs, and F-550 SDs from the model years 2021-2023, as well as some Lincoln Aviators, Mustangs, Navigators, Expeditions, and Explorer models from 2021-2022 and 2022. The recall centers on a potential issue with the low-pressure fuel pump inside these vehicles.
If the low-pressure fuel pump fails, it can cause a loss of fuel pressure and flow, leading to engine stalling while driving. This could pose a heightened risk of an accident if the vehicle is being driven at the time. Ford advises that failure of the fuel pumps is more likely to occur in low fuel or warm weather conditions.
Customers will receive an initial notification letter in the mail next week, followed by a second letter with information on how to obtain a solution for the fuel pump issue once it becomes available. The repair process is currently under development and dealerships have been informed about the recall.
It’s worth noting that no accidents or injuries have been reported related to this issue. Ford sold over 2.08 million vehicles across its brands in the US last year, with over 1.1 million sales recorded in the first half of 2025.
