Ford Recalls 272K Vehicles for Battery Issues

Ford has recalled over 272,000 vehicles, including the 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Ford Maverick models, due to battery failure issues. The batteries may have internal problems that cause unexpected failures while driving, potentially leading to car stoppage after an automatic start or during slowing. NHTSA has confirmed the issue in a recall notice, with owners being notified by mail about potential 12-volt battery inspection or replacement at Ford or Lincoln dealers. The company was first informed of the problem in September 2024 and had parts introduced into production since February 2020. Owners may be eligible for free 12-volt batteries if they don’t already have one, as per NHTSA guidelines. Additionally, Ford has stated there are no reported accidents, fires, or injuries related to the issue so far.
