Ford Motor Company is recalling over 850,000 vehicles in the US due to a potential fuel pump failure that could cause an engine stall while driving and increase crash risks. The affected vehicles include certain model years of Ford Broncos, Explorers, Lincoln Aviators, Navigators, and F-150s.
The recall affects approximately 10% of the recalled vehicles, which is around 85,032 cars. Owners should look out for signs of poor engine performance, such as a check engine light or decreased engine power, before a potential fuel pump failure occurs.
Ford estimates that the risk of fuel pump failure is higher during warm weather or when the fuel tank is low. The company has identified supplier changes as a possible cause and will provide owners with notification letters starting July 14. Owners can then take their vehicle to an authorized dealer for free repairs when a fix becomes available.
It’s worth noting that Ford claims not to have been aware of any accidents or injuries related to this recall, but owners should be cautious and monitor their vehicles’ performance. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has more information on the recall and will provide updates as necessary.
