Ford Motor Co. has introduced the first special edition of its high-performance Mustang GTD, dubbed the Spirit of America. The limited-edition supercar marks the car’s impressive performance achievements, including completing Germany’s Nürburgring in under 7 minutes.
The Spirit of America edition features a unique body design inspired by the iconic red, white, and blue Mustang tribar debuted in 1964. The car’s exterior is Performance White with twin racing stripes in Race Red and Lightning Blue, designed to evoke the spirit of American speed and innovation.
The car’s heritage is rooted in Craig Breedlove, an aerospace engineer who broke both the 500- and 600-mph barriers on land in the 1960s. His record-breaking achievements helped inspire American car designers, engineers, and inventors, including those working on the Mustang GTD program.
The Spirit of America edition boasts exposed carbon fiber aerodynamic elements, including a front splitter and rear diffuser and spoiler. Buyers can customize their cars with options such as Race Red end plates, exposed carbon-fiber mirror caps, and standard brake calipers.
Pricing for the Mustang GTD Spirit of America starts at around $325,000, making it an exclusive addition to the Mustang lineup. The car’s impressive performance is backed by its 815 horsepower, 664 pound-feet of torque, and a top speed of 202 mph, making it the most powerful street-legal Mustang ever.
Ford is now taking orders for the Spirit of America edition, available in select markets, with approved applicants.
